Remy Ma's Son Faces Murder Charges Amidst New York Court Drama

Remy Ma’s son, Jayson "Jace" Scott, was in court on Tuesday, June 25, facing murder charges from the previous week.

According to ABC7 New York, Remy Ma's 23-year-old son, Jayson "Jace" Scott, was arraigned on multiple charges for a 2021 shooting. He and an accomplice face seven charges, including first and second-degree murder, weapon possession, and reckless endangerment.

Scott's alleged accomplice, 22-year-old Richard Swygert, was also charged on Tuesday. He was already in police custody for another 2021 killing.

Scott and Swygert were arrested on June 18 for Guillebeaux's murder, according to the New York Police Department. The crime happened in Queens on June 7, 2021.

Police said officers responded to a 911 call about a shooting at 148 Street and Rockaway Boulevard. They found a 47-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was later identified as Guillebeaux.

Authorities stated that Scott was charged with murder, reckless endangerment, and weapon possession when he was arrested. Swygert was charged with first-degree murder, reckless endangerment, and weapon possession as well.

The day after Scott's arrest, a rep for Remy Ma (real name Reminisce Smith) told PEOPLE that serious, unfounded allegations were made against her son. While Remy Ma wanted to address the situation, she was advised not to speak publicly since the case is still active.

The statement continued, "To be clear, Jayson Scott is innocent. Remy Ma is dedicated to proving his innocence and supporting her son. We hope the NYPD will conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the truth. This has been a difficult time for Remy Ma and her family. While she appreciates the support, she asks for privacy as her legal team works on proving Jayson’s innocence."

In 2008, Remy Ma faced legal trouble when she was sentenced to eight years in prison for a 2007 shooting in New York, according to Reuters. The rapper, who started her career in 1999 with the Terror Squad alongside Fat Joe and Big Pun, was found guilty of assault, weapons charges, and attempted coercion.

She served six years in prison instead.
