Roman Reigns' Father, WWE Legend Sika Anoa'i, Passes Away at 79

WWE Hall of Famer Sika Anoa'i, who was Roman Reigns' father, has passed away at the age of 79, WWE confirmed on Tuesday.

Anoa'i, alongside his brother Afa, won the WWE tag-team championship three times as part of The Wild Samoans. They were honored with induction into the Hall of Fame in 2007.

After their wrestling days, The Wild Samoans trained wrestlers at their facility, including Batista. They also mentored their nephew Yokozuna, who later became a WWE Hall of Famer.

Anoa'i's family has a legendary wrestling legacy. WWE's ongoing "Bloodline" storyline stars Reigns as the leader of a faction that includes Samoans who are not just family but also longtime family friends.

The Rock joined the "Bloodline" storyline in February, setting the stage for a tag-team main event at WrestleMania 40 in April, teaming up with his close family friend Reigns.

"My father deeply influenced our whole family, and we'll always appreciate the strong foundation he gave us," Reigns shared on Tuesday. "We can't replace him, but my sisters and I will honor his legacy the best we can."

Reigns hasn't been on WWE TV since WrestleMania 40 in April, where he lost the WWE undisputed championship to Cody Rhodes. That marked the end of Reigns' 1,316-day title reign, the fourth longest in WWE history.
