Andre Drummond Returns to 76ers in $10M Deal; Team Eyes Paul George

Andre Drummond will reportedly join the Philadelphia 76ers on a contract worth $10 million over two years, according to sources confirmed by ESPN and other reports.

Philadelphia re-signs Drummond, who played for the 76ers in the first half of the 2021-2022 season before being traded to the Brooklyn Nets in February as part of the James Harden deal.

After playing behind Nikola Vucevic in Chicago for the past two seasons, Drummond now provides Philadelphia with a top-tier backup for former MVP Joel Embiid, who was sidelined for a significant part of last season due to a knee injury.

The Philadelphia 76ers are planning to sit down with Paul George, the top free agent available, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. This move aims to strengthen their roster alongside star players Joel Embiid and guard Tyrese Maxey, who is anticipated to receive a significant new contract this offseason as a restricted free agent.

Drummond, who will be 31 in August, has settled into a role as a reliable backup center after starting his career with the Detroit Pistons. Known for his strong rebounding skills, he averaged 9 rebounds in slightly over 17 minutes per game last season. In the 10 games he started, he averaged nearly 18 rebounds.

Drummond recently finished a two-year contract worth $6.6 million that he signed with the Bulls in 2022.
